Apply Now! Detroiters: Do you have a great idea for an artistic event at Palmer Park? The Community Arts Stipends program is organized by the Arts and Culture Committee of People for Palmer Park. We all love to participate in interesting and diverse arts and culture programming at our wonderful park and we recognize that lots of members of our community have creative skills and talents to share but may not be able to independently organize this programming. Applicants who are selected by a committee of local arts enthusiasts will be provided with planning assistance from the Arts and Culture Committee as well as infrastructural supplies such as audio equipment, chairs/tables, and basic marketing support to make their community event a success!
Apply by Monday, April 15th at noon with your idea for support of up to $500 for an arts-related activity to be hosted in or near the log cabin at Palmer Park on select Log Cabin Sundays, June - October 2024. Ideas for creative projects: Art Installation or exhibit, Musical performance, Cooking, Art making with plants and nature found in the park, dance parties & lessons, Theater, Filmmaking, Storytelling, Poetry reading, Puppetry — apply with any family-friendly and imaginative ideas! 2023 Season Community Arts Stipends Recipients
We supported workshops in a wide range of activities including: natural sculpture-making, a drumming circle, an inspirational collage, a foraged food demo and tasting, waist-bead making and stop-motion animation.
Log Cabin Sundays
Organized together with Earth Tones and other events in the park, Log Cabin Sundays are our regularly scheduled programs in the park!
About the Arts and Culture Committee
The Arts and Culture Committee of People for Palmer Park is committed to organizing, presenting and advancing art, creativity, imagination and culture in Detroit’s Palmer Park. The committee is composed of volunteer artists, musicians, arts professionals and lovers of the arts who are working to support a thriving, creative environment at Palmer Park through diverse cultural programming that is free, open to the public and family friendly.
